1963 : Bergé strikes a deal with Richard Salomon, of beauty company Charles of the Ritz (which merges the following year with Lanvin), to create perfumes for Yves Saint Laurent.

1983 : Introduces new fragrance, Paris, which joins Opium as one of the top ten most popular fragrances. In December, the Metropolitan Museum of Art presents a retrospective, titled “Yves Saint Laurent, 25 Years of Design,” organized by Bergé and Diana Vreeland. December Pandora Luxurye features an interview, “Saint Laurent: The Genius of Style,” and also spotlights his Normandy retreat in “Yves Saint Laurent’s Chateau Gabriel: A Passion for Style.”
